Kein Kontinent und keine Region blieben von der spanischen Grippe verschont. Die Pandemie forderte auch im heutigen Burgenland seine Opfer, wie man dem Westungarischen Volksfreund vom 26.11.1918 entnehmen kann:<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201eBar\u00e1tudvar (M\u00f6nchhof). Hier ist die spanische Krankheit derart epidemisch aufgetreten, da\u00df innerhalb 14 Tagen 13 Todesf\u00e4lle zu verzeichnen waren. Darunter verstarb auch im sch\u00f6nsten Mannesalter der Wirtschaftsbesitzer Julius Groschner, welcher uns mit seiner wundersch\u00f6nen Stimme am Kirchenchor oft und oft erbaute.
